Mid-Year Enrollment from Public or Private School

The decision to home school often times comes after the start of school. If you have made such a decision, please know that IOE does allow year-round enrollment. 

To ensure that your child's current school is properly notified regarding your decision to home school and to avoid truancy issues, an application for membership must be received. Whether you choose to mail in your application or submit one online, a notice will be faxed to the school your child will be leaving with proof of homeschooling usually within 24 hours. 

Once the notice has been faxed, you will receive an electronic confirmation for you to retain until your membership packet arrives.  As the parent, you will be required to officially withdraw your child from the school.  You may wish to inquire as to the number of school days your child has attended thus far as they will count towards the 180 required days of school as mentioned in the SC Homeschool Law.
