Membership FAQ
How does our family become members of IOE?
Submit an application for membership. Once processed you will receive your Member Packet which includes all scholastic forms and informational home schooling documents. At the close of your school year, return one Scholastic Data Form for each enrolled student. Each enrolled student will receive an academic transcript, including High School Students.
What are the fees?
All families are assessed the same Family Rate - no matter the size of children in your family. For the 2008-2009 School Year, our Family Rate is $40 per school year. There is a $10 discount if your application is received by June 30, 2008.
Does IOE issue official transcripts? Do colleges accept them?
Yes. All students are issued academic transcripts by this association. Our high school students will receive multiple originals at graduation along with their IOE issued diploma. Colleges in and out of South Carolina have accepted our transcripts. IOE Transcripts reflect the UGS GPA.
My child has been expelled - will IOE work with our family?
IOE is not mandated to accept expelled students nor transfer credits earned. Applications are approved on a case by case basis and approved if the family is considering long-term home schooling.
Do you have an enrollment deadline?
No. IOE accepts applications for membership year-round. The only exception is the last few weeks of May. Applications accepted during this timeframe are approved if the family is considering long-term home schooling.
What forms do I have to return to IOE at the close of our school?
At the conclusion of each school year, all members must return one IOE Scholastic Data Form per enrolled student. The other forms listed on our website are for your own personal record keeping. The exception to this will be for seniors - they will be instructed of other forms required for graduation.
Teaching Parent - Defined
Only the child's parent or legal guardian may enroll and teach students enrolled. Parents are to be the primary instructor; however, outside or additional assistance by other parent, tutor, or other may assist in the schooling of enrolled students.
Is your association available to Non-SC residents?
Yes. You should, however, research to see if further registration is necessary to fulfill the requirements of the state or country in which you reside. The main benefit our non-SC members receive: record keeping documentation, high school transcript and diploma. Please visit our Non-SC resident page at top.
If you are just needing a transcript, we highly recommend and suggest www.HStranscripts.com.
